Job Description

At Capdesk, we’re about to rewrite the history books on how companies use equity to empower their people. By unlocking the power of equity, we can change finance for good.

With equity made more accessible, businesses can unite employees, owners and investors through shared success. It might sound revolutionary, but it shouldn’t. It’s about time.

In the last few years, we’ve quietly become a leader in our field, providing the easiest way for private companies to digitise their equity information and manage and issue employee equity schemes. There are no longer any excuses for denying employees a share of the wealth they helped to create.

We recently launched a first-of-its-kind secondaries market to take our mission even further. Now, employees can turn vested shares into equity as and when it suits them – no more waiting for the company to IPO.

Employee equity schemes have been broken for too long; it’s time to create a world where everyone can be a stakeholder.

Capdesk is remote-friendly, but more importantly team-first. We have amazing people all over the world but most of the team is split between Copenhagen and London where we still have brick-and-mortar offices. Applicants are welcome from every time zone within UTC -5 and +2.

We’re a lean team, so every hire is significant to us. We’re looking for each newcomer to strengthen our mission, our team and our culture – and challenge us to get better.

We completed an £8m Series A in March 2021, and we have over 1000 of Europe's startups and scale-ups using our software. We’re gearing up to go further, across Europe and beyond. That’s where you come in.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Capdesks' Brand & Creative team are growing, and we are looking for a Senior Digital Designer to join us. The Digital Designer will be responsible principally for our website - capdesk.com - creating new pages (main and landing pages) and also in working on a complete site redesign. You will be managed and supported by Creative Lead Dave, and will work closely with our new web developer in the Marketing team. Candidates will need demonstrable experience in a similar role (4+ years).

You will be responsible for setting your own tasks and executing them to the highest level, under your own initiative. As well as our main website upkeep and redesign, you will also manage our other digital channels, including our support and careers sites, and design for other channels such as email and social media.

As we grow there are many areas to develop within the Capdesk brand. Aligning our visual design with product, developing our visual identity, bringing our brand strategy to life and optimising our work processes are all key areas that the digital designer will be involved in. This role gives plenty of opportunity for design expression; helping to take us further as we enter an exciting stage in our brand journey.

ABOUT THE BRAND & CREATIVE TEAM

The B&C team was set up early in 2021 with the purpose of building and developing the Capdesk brand. As we grow, our job is to ensure that the Capdesk brand is associated with innovative creativity, and sector leading design.

Our work impacts our internal 'brand culture', as well as our external brand experience, and we strive to inspire prospective and current employees, as well as our customers. The team is managed by Creative Lead Dave. Our ethos is all about fostering an environment where we can all do our best work.

B&C golden rules:

  • Support anyone in any team with creative and design expertise, across the business.
  • Take every opportunity to share knowledge, and work processes with everyone.
  • Actively promote good design practice, and creative thinking.
  • Be your own quality control, responsible for your output.
  • Collaborate first, specialise second.
  • Never settle for average.
  • Always be inspiring.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining and improving our existing website
  • Leading the design of our new website, in collaboration with the Marketing team and Creative Lead
  • Designing fully bespoke page templates, and modular systems that can be used by the wider team
  • Carrying out a 'design and visual audit' of all our online material, and keeping our brand design consistent across all our channels
  • Collaborating with the Creative Lead in developing our brand
  • Aligning with the Product team as they develop our product design system, to ensure that our website aligns with our product
  • Scamping, wireframing and prototyping
  • Bringing solid UX principles and user journies into your design process
  • Presenting, and initiating / participating in working meetings, research sessions and workshops, whether in person, or remotely
  • Hiring and managing external resource (freelancers, animators etc.) and project managing when required
  • Designing interactive graphics to improve our user experience
  • Helping to integrate our brand across all our digital channels, including our support site, careers site, and internal online tools such as looker and slack.
  • Helping to organise our hubspot CMS

ABOUT YOU

  • Confident in your abilities, with an unflappable nature
  • A good natured person who is empathetic, respectful, and supportive of the wider team and the people that you work with
  • As a senior, willing to share experience and help junior / less experienced colleagues in their development
  • Able to handle multiple tasks - from fast turnarounds to longer term work - and prioritise effectively and efficiently
  • A good communicator - both written and verbal - whether in a slack channel or a company wide presentation.
  • You get involved in our 'remote' culture, participating in slack chats and weekly syncs
  • You understand and are inspired by our brand purpose, always looking to maximise your positive impact on the business in any way you can
  • You initiate projects, and have a solid grasp of the pulse of the business
  • You actively embody our values of curiosity, iteration, empowerment and togetherness

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A senior level with proven experience delivering beautiful, functional design
  • A passion for digital design, with an active interest in its possibilities
  • A solid understanding of best practice in UX / UI design, including accessibility and SEO
  • Good design sense. Able to make (and justify) design led decisions on aspects such as typography, colour, imagery and layout
  • An eye for detail and passion for polish, verging on 'healthily obsessive'
  • Skills with optimising images and animation for display online
  • An understanding of B2B lead generation, and how our site can drive it
  • Expert user of Figma and Adobe CC
  • Experience with content management. You're able to suggest and implement structures that can help us work smarter, and keep our CMS in order
  • Able to work collaboratively and share knowledge
  • Experience in building optimal and engaging email content
  • Able to build interactive graphics
  • Basic code, and use of CSS

BONUS POINTS:

  • Prior experience of HubSpot and HubL
  • Experience working in a fintech / scaleup environment
  • An interest in product design and / or engineering
