Job Description
DK is a world leader in illustrated non-fiction publishing and is looking to hire an experienced and creative Marketing Designer to join its friendly Brand & Marketing Design Team which supports DK’s marketing and retail communications in the UK and other territories.
As part of the Brand & Marketing Design Team, you will be working across a varied title list with the Brand & Communications and Online Marketplace teams to design marketing materials for DK books as well as DK brand communications. From high-profile author titles, licensed brands like LEGO® and Star Wars, to travel titles and books for children of all ages – the publishing list covers it all, and as the Marketing Designer, you will be involved with it all. You will be producing on and offline creative, including but not limited to digital assets such as Amazon and social media assets, including simple animation and video editing, point-of-sale, brand materials, presentations, and event graphics.
In this exciting position, you will:
- Take ownership of projects from interpreting design briefs to delivering final artwork or assets.
- Craft visually and editorially engaging designs that capture the essence of a campaign in a concise space.
- Contribute creative ideas and actively participate in campaign planning.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, showcasing your exceptional organisational skills.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing Design, Online Marketplace and Brand colleagues, ensuring clear communication and delivering impactful outcomes.
- Finalise artwork for assets to go live or prepare files for print.

Alongside your great design and creative abilities, we seek a highly motivated, enthusiastic and well organised, with the ability to think editorially and able to work independently and also collaboratively as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be innovative, dynamic, resourceful, a good communicator, self-motivated, and used to working to strict deadlines with the ability to juggle a range of tasks.
To succeed in this role, you should possess a keen sense of commercial design, recognising the key visual components that bring each book to life in a concise space. Additionally, a strong awareness of and sensitivity to the overall DK Brand is crucial.
You will have:
- Proven design experience in graphic design and have a portfolio of work that demonstrates your personal abilities
- A flair for layout, typography and image selection, and a keen eye for detail
- A strong editorial sense and the ability to work with editorial partners and brand managers to create a strong, impactful campaign from concept to finished design
- Confidence in following a brief, and implementing and using templates effectively
- Ownership of projects through to final artwork or asset delivery
- Excellent organisational skills, the ability to multitask and work across many projects
- Experience in designing marketing communications. Knowledge and experience in illustrated publishing would be an advantage, although not essential
- Proficiency in the Adobe CC Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Familiarity with After Effects, Premiere Pro, photography skills, and a willingness to explore new software (e.g., Boxshot) are beneficial.
