Studio Manager / On Set (Digi) Studio Assistant.
Job Description
Hello! I am seeking an enthusiastic, organised, adaptable studio assistant and office manager.
This person will be overseeing all aspects of my work. - on set, in the darkroom, overseeing retouching and then delivery of all jobs. I encourage women of all backgrounds to apply, It’s important to me to have balance and perspective within my team.
This person will be in charge of organising my studio and kit. Keeping everything up to date and replenished. From prepping jobs, to editing and printing all the way to archiving. Physical prints and digital archives. Plus admin, billing and researching that needed.
In detail:
On set. You will be required to fit into the current team, helping and assisting me and them. On advertising jobs when digital is required you will be the digi operator. This isn’t a normal Digi job as all my work is shot on film. But you will be in charge of the digital tests, and to manage the digi set up sides of the shoot. On all of the other jobs when digi isn’t required you will be the 2nd / 3rd assistant (lighing + film). You will be responsible for getting all the kit physically to and from the shoots.
In the darkroom, you will be helping and assisting me and another member of the team hand printing, scanning, organising, spotting prints and prepping jobs and the darkroom space. Carrying any job notes from on set, to the printing stage.
Retouching: Spotting any marks from the scanning. Working on mark ups and executing and feedback or what’s is needed for each job. Working closely with me and overseeing images that need feedback or anything tweaked or changed.
In my studio / office. Helping me archive, and work on projects coming up or delivering current ones. You will also be responsible for the studio shoot space repainting anything that needs to be reset and general work that needs to be done. You will help me and the team research and create mood boards. Accounting and invoicing and fulfilling costs. Working with my agent on keeping track of what’s been spent on jobs and replenishing and consumables like film ordering, chemistry or paper needed for each job. Invoicing for a kit that has been used.
Video editing. Overseeing and seeing a part of edits. Working with film and digital.
This roll is a very wide and dynamic job roll. The successful applicant will need to be organised, adaptable and willing. Once all the job rolls are learnt you will be expected to self-manage your time and the team's time. The most important part of this Job is to have good energy, to be a kind person and someone who is considerate and able to spot and divert problems that might arise. You will be working with me very closely on all aspects, so it's important to me that we like each other. I’m happy to teach all aspects of the job to the applicant.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has had a few years of studio and on set experience but is still wanting to learn more in depth skills. But is also willing to get their hand dirty if needs be. A fine line between someone who’s isn’t too inexperienced and overly experienced.
All applicants need to be able to travel. Most jobs are in the UK, but others can be Europe and US and beyond.
