Job Description

ABOUT US

Not Actual Size is a collective of creatives and strategists who build respect for brands. We are an independent, employee-owned B Corp, working in partnership with Global brands such as Dove, Sure/Rexona, and Roche.

Our services cover the creative spectrum – from truly social-first content creation to turning unseen insights into campaign ideas. We also never forget the beautiful basics and take pride in crafting product pages or lifestyle shots that truly resonate – for us, every detail matters. Our strategy team works closely with our creative team and client partners, providing data, insights and reporting to influence decisions and boost innovation.

Our approach to work and culture is based on Radical Respect. It is our rebellion against the noise of an ultra-connected world and it means we give obsessive attention to every quietly significant detail in order to boost relevance for our clients, people and society.

Our team has been continually growing and we’re looking for big thinkers, dot joiners and meaning makers to join us – we have big plans for the future and are looking for an ambitious, proactive and experienced Art Director to help us go to the next level.

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM

Our creative team creates bold work that matters. Driven by storytelling, craft and imagination, the team includes both Brand Creatives – responsible for shaping and safeguarding brands and developing strategies, playbooks and assets that keep digital channels alive and pristine – and Comms Creatives – responsible for making brands famous and relevant with ideas-driven campaigns, social-first content and impactful activations. The team brings different expertise together across conceptualisation, art direction, design, copywriting, editing and production to form a multi-disciplined, integrated creative workforce.

Your role is embedded in the Comms Creative team.

ABOUT YOU

Our dream Art Director for the Comms team is someone who will envision and bring to life social-first ideas that respect the brand’s TOV and push the brand’s boundaries - all at the same time. You join your intuition for award-winning ideas with a true immersion in social culture to produce content and campaigns that build respect for our clients - and for our agency.

As an Art Director at Not Actual Size, you are immersed in social trends and communities, with a particular eye for social content opportunities that can build up to big storytelling / fame opportunities.

You are an Art Director who can:

  • Art Direct everything from a moving social video to a high-quality photoshoot
  • Create head-turning creative work from ideation through to post-production with storytelling at the heart
  • Develop visual keys, brand identities, moodboards, storyboards and references with strong narrative and compelling ways to aid client understanding and sign-off
  • Create and safeguard a brand’s visual identity through rigorous inception and application of the approved brand visual identity
  • Ensure assets are the highest quality throughout entire process from generation through to delivery
  • Lead the way in advanced skills of Adobe Suite, Figma and After Effects as a bonus
  • Inspire and influence clients with thinking that pushes boundaries and increases brand relevance - whilst creating open, honest and respect-fueled relationships with them
  • Provide guidance to more junior creatives during ideation and execution phases, supporting them with inspiration and help on equal parts
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration and respect across the whole team, actively sharing interesting and thoughtful news and references.
  • Build positive habits and rituals within the creative team.

You are an Art Director who happens to be:

  • A powerhouse who is brimming with ideas as well as contagious energy to make them happen.
  • A critical thinker who knows very well what good ideas look like, but also whether they are right for each platform.
  • A good communicator who runs presentations and also speaks regularly and efficiently with internal stakeholders to ensure they are updated and aligned on all things related to process, team capacity, resourcing and recruitment.
  • A mentor that empowers more junior creatives and sets them on a successful career path.
  • An innovator who keeps abreast of cultural conversations and technological advancements to stimulate reactive proposals relevant for people, clients and the agency.
  • An adult who loves creativity but also understands business needs and social context.
  • A tidy team member who uses file-saving and project management tools rigorously - to help cross-team work.

You are an Art Director who has:

  • 2+ years experience as an Art Director at creative agencies
  • A portfolio full of mouth/brain watering visual work
  • Proved experience working with multi skilled talent
