Are you an experienced brand manager who’s used to developing and delivering successful brand content and communications across the whole spectrum of print and digital channels? Then join Shelter as Senior Brand Marketing Manager and you could soon be playing a vital leadership role at the heart of our Marketing team.

About Shelter

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.

We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.

About the team

Our Marketing function includes search, digital and social media specialists, a brand management team and a paid campaign strategy and delivery team. Working closely with our creative, digital and insight teams, we support all areas of the business and work across all aspects of marketing, combining our expertise in engaging organic and paid audiences. From developing project strategies to delivering multi-channel campaigns, we analyse market trends, build targetable audience segments and constantly optimise and test new channels and ad variants. Our goal? To dramatically increase the general public’s understanding of, and empathy with, people struggling with homelessness and unfit housing – and this is more vital than ever in the current climate.

About the role

A high profile senior level role, it will involve leading the application of the Shelter brand across all communication touch-points and increasing supporter engagement and retention through the development of engaging brand content. Leading on ensuring the accurate and creative ongoing application and development of our recently launched new brand and visual identity will be high on your list of priorities. So too will identifying opportunities to engage the public with our brand and managing the commissioning, development and delivery of brand assets, communications and content.

Working with colleagues to develop and deliver high profile, impactful, fully integrated marketing campaigns which raise the profile of Shelter will be important too, as will providing recommendations on opportunities for brand investment based on business impact and strategic importance. And, when it comes to supporting business case and budget bid applications, calculating cost and return on investment and alignment to the customer experience, again, we’ll count on you.

We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.

About you

You’ll need management experience gained in a marketing environment, plus a good track record of working on a cross-divisional basis and with agency partners. Strong interpersonal skills, particularly a flair for establishing effective working relationships with, and influencing, key stakeholders and teams across a whole organisation, are also required. What’s more, we’ll be looking for excellent project management skills and a flair for ensuring all communications are on brand and closely coordinated to maximise effectiveness and opportunities within our public facing media and marketing campaigns.

Comfortable leading an ongoing embedding programme for a new brand, planning, commissioning and developing resources comes naturally to you too. Reviewing and optimising processes and ways of working, recruiting, managing and developing colleagues and managing a brand budget – you’re confident in your ability to do all of these things and keen to rise to this exciting challenge.

Benefits

We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
