At Hearst UK consumer revenues are a fast-growing part of the business and one with ambitious plans for further growth, driven by both our existing product portfolio and new product launches. We have a vacancy within our growing Consumer Revenue and Marketing team and more specifically within the subscriptions marketing team, for a Senior Digital Marketing Manager to support us in managing the marketing programmes across subscriptions and memberships. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering all digital marketing plans from concept through to execution and analysis. The role reports into the Head of Marketing across all brands.

Key Duties:

Digital Acquisition Marketing - Subscriptions and Membership

Be responsible for leading the digital marketing plans, CPAs, and strategy to drive awareness and to contribute to the acquisition subs pipeline and conversion with a key focus on PPC, Affiliates, social media, Display & brand sites

Lead personalisation and targeting across our audiences to drive acquisitions, increase CTR and improve conversion across the core digital channels.

Take ownership of the marketing testing strategy across all digital marketing channels and brands ensuring the testing ideas will deliver KPI growth and all tests are filtered through the Hearst testing framework to achieve statistical significance. Ensure learnings are rolled out.

Work closely with all digital agencies and partners ensuring all parties are closely aligned and working towards Hearst goals and objectives in order to optimise and grow our key online channels

Continuously innovate and share new ideas and tactics to drive subscription and membership growth.

Manage the brand site subscription conversion plan using machine learning to drive subscription growth

Campaign management

Plan and manage fully integrated, flawless and response-driven digital marketing campaigns across subscriptions and memberships. Ownership of brief & plans; oversight of all aspects of the campaign process from strategy to ideation to execution to measurement

Ensure each brand’s values, culture and uniqueness are clearly articulated, communicated and consistent across all communication

Ensure digital agencies and suppliers are fully briefed on campaign objectives and KPI’s.

Work with the design team/ external agencies to brief innovative creative for marketing campaigns to support memberships and subscriptions and to accelerate creative growth

Work closely with the Head of Marketing on the marketing calendar and promotional activities throughout the year identifying new opportunities for campaign creation.

Own, build and continuously improve and standardise the systems and processes to make campaigns, briefs and content more effective.

Be the voice of the customer in discussion, learning from research and insight, and finding ways to put the customer at the heart of everything we do.


Work closely with the Head of Marketing to ensure all digital acquisitions are within the blended CPA target and work to an agile plan to ensure we are maximising all channels and spend based on ratio of sales.

Monitor CPCs, sales and media spend across all performance channels ensuring they are within the CPA targets and maximise reach opportunity

Working with agencies and internal teams, increase the CTR and conversion rates from digital marketing channels to amplify growth

Where identified, create business cases for more marketing spend/ testing new media if opportunities arise

Regularly update stakeholders on activity plans, performance, opportunities, and threats.

Manage all digital marketing reporting ensuring stakeholders are fully briefed on acquisition volumes vs forecast along with any risks, opportunities & recommendations

Ensure customers have a consistent end to end journey, from marketing creative to checkout.


Substantial experience of managing Digital Marketing channels

Creative/ storyteller

Analytical and technical

Experience with SubX / Piano is desirable

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage a wide variety of projects simultaneously and under deadline

Performance marketing experience

Ecommerce understanding is beneficial but not essential
