Job Description
Silicon Milkroundabout is the UK’s largest and best loved tech job event. Our events focus on product managers, designers, marketers, software developers, and data scientists interested in working for some of the most innovative tech companies ranging from startups - household names. We’ve turned traditional recruitment on its head by putting together an electric event over one weekend twice a year where people can mingle, have a couple of beers and lots of new tech teams are born.
Your immediate task will be to learn fast and assist in running our next London event over the weekend of the 19 and 20 November. This will involve managing 150+ exhibitors, 80 temporary event staff, and 2,500+ attendees.
Overview of responsibilities
Stage at least two major events a year in London for thousands of tech-curious software types and help out on expansion plans.

Help us make our events even better and to push innovations.
Requirements
At least 3 years experience producing large scale events.
Firm grasp on figures. Smart, clear and precise with numbers.
Attention to detail. Real care and accountability about the small things.
Ability to stay extremely organised whilst juggling several different areas of activity.
Ability to keep a handle on vision with multiple moving parts i.e. including possible partnerships.
Creative, confident in your taste but with a good understanding of our brand.
Great vision and the ability to visualise.
Knowing what is high and what is low priority and what to focus on.
A good manager of a wide coalition of people (able to deal with junior, highly-skilled/senior). The ability to make quick decisions - give instant feedback in the heat of a live event whilst keeping your cool.
Keep up to date with the latest trends in tech/social/art/installation/local.
Understanding leverage: getting stuff for free by bargaining; understanding the value to other people of being at the event; it is not always about getting paid. Seek to understand motivations of suppliers, clients, etc.
Understanding the importance of connecting and nurturing relationships.
Know your way around an excel spreadsheet.
The ability to spot a great opportunity.
Ability to react quickly to change. Have backup plans for backup plans.
Interested in learning other areas of the business and have a muck in wherever needed.
You’ll have a little black book of tried and tested suppliers and freelancers within the events world.
Typical responsibilities include:
Event
Source suppliers and negotiate quotes (with intention of driving best price / value).
Deal directly with the venue and have site visits to make sure decisions that are made would work in the space.
Constantly brainstorm new ideas to improve the event experience and troubleshoot any issues which might arise.
Think creatively about design and production.
Make sure all health and safety/insurance docs are filled out and distributed to the relevant people.
Write briefs for all suppliers and make sure they are followed through with.
Schedules for suppliers and production team.
Organise facilities for car park, traffic control, security, first aid, hospitality and the media.
On site running of the event.
Organise a post event retrospective and write up a full debrief report highlighting suggested improvements.
General
Get up to speed with the workings of the business and feel free to ask as many questions as you need.
Contribute to helping create a template for recording information needed to run an event to help expand to other cities.
Look after the account management of attendee enquiries.
Look after the account management of company enquiries.
Look after our social media accounts. Help to grow our following on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
Maintaining and building on the current brand. Be conscious of the brand when making decisions.
Potentially running micro physical IRL or online events
