About Condé Nast Product and Technology

Our mission is to empower the most iconic brands in media such as The New Yorker, Vogue, Wired, and Vanity Fair for business and creative success by creating the next-generation suite of content publishing and consumption experiences. We are a group of designers, product managers, engineers, strategists, and researchers dedicated to building innovative, user-centric products.

About our design team

We are a team of digital designers, researchers, and writers with expertise in visual design, interaction design, and design research. We partner closely with editorial, product management, engineering, and business partners to strategize, design, and launch gorgeous digital products. We believe that a well-formed design culture is essential to delivering top-notch work.

How we build and share this work requires that we understand the contributors who shape it, the audiences who consume it, and the landscape in which we operate.

About this role

We’re looking for an experienced user researcher to join Condé Nast’s commerce portfolio group as we expand our monetisation opportunities to publisher commerce and marketplace experiences.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

This role is for a dedicated senior researcher who knows when to apply the appropriate research methods and is creative, agile, adaptable, and practical. Here’s some of what’s in store for you in this role:

  • You’ll lead planning and execution of user research for our Commerce Brand Portfolio which includes iconic titles such as GQ, Conde Nast Traveller, and Allure.
  • Your research will help us define and prioritize commerce and marketplace propositions, like how our content can inspire, guide, and ultimately influence purchase decisions for our audience.
  • You’ll conduct primary research such as interviews, observations, field studies, diary studies, participatory workshops, surveys and usability testing.
  • Want to partner with Product Analytics to create experiments to improve commerce metrics? Go for it!
  • You’ll understand and map the current state of the commerce landscape for our commerce brands.
  • You’re in the driver’s seat: we want you to plan and conduct research end-to-end. We want you to run kick-off meetings, write research briefs, select research methods, recruit, conduct research, analyze, and share insights.
  • You will get to champion user research and proactively seek opportunities to share insights with the team and wider company.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • You are a skilled listener and excellent communicator who’s able to make detailed observations and connect the dots to form a story.
  • You’re adept at working cross-functionally (with design, product, analytics, engineering, and editorial) to inform product development and design strategy.
  • You’re great at using and analysing data with traditional UX research methods to inform your approach.
  • You’re familiar with e-commerce in general and research around purchase decisions.

A note: research indicates that women and individuals from marginalized groups tend to apply only when they meet all of the criteria. If you believe you’re qualified, but don’t necessarily check every box, please submit an application.
