Job Description

We are growing our team and are looking for a Senior Designer to join our multi-disciplinary studio.

Who We Are

Here is a company of thinkers, writers, designers and makers that work together to create beautiful and useful things. We call this Beautility. From brand identities to books, our Designers collaborate closely with all disciplines across the studio to bring creative excellence and disruptive thinking to life.

Who You Are

An established designer with fully rounded and striking conceptual thinking and the skillset to execute at a high level. Au fait with all phases of the creative process, you have strong experience in the creative industry and are able to demonstrate a varied set of projects which you will have seen through from start to finish.

Why You Are Here

As a senior member of the team, you have comprehensive experience of the full creative process from start to finish and bring structure and solidity to it. Your understanding of the process and respective challenges has been built across several projects of varying focus. Beyond the design work itself, you have also begun confidently and effectively guiding and critiquing the work of others in the studio.

The bulk of your time is spent designing. You work across several different accounts and are consistently delivering design solutions for all manner of creative challenges. Your creative confidence allows you to step away from the computer where possible to find unconventional sources of inspiration, encouraging more junior members of the team to do so too. This creative freedom is tempered with acute understanding of what is required of you in each stage of the project. Although you are efficient in recognising the ideas that are relevant and exciting, you continue to show sketches and thoughts that are more half-baked. This encourages bravery and experimentation in the rest of the team and continues to foster an open creative atmosphere.

  • You are a champion of Beautility. You demonstrate a clear understanding of how this philosophy guides the work that we do and keep Here's mission to make good choices desirable at the heart of the judgement criteria. You advocate and stimulate others within the wider studio to do the same.
  • You work hard to foster efficient collaboration across disciplines within the business, managing a tight approach to both internal and external communication to ensure clarity of what is expected/achievable and to ensure all client feedback is properly considered, understood and reflected in the work delivered by the team.
  • You inspire and guide junior members of the team. You are actively involved in nurturing and help them to get the best from their time Here.
  • You are involved in the interview process to consider future talent within the team.
  • You adopt the role of a creative catalyst on every project, inspiring the team with your innovative thinking.
  • You are developing a keen eye for detail in all aspects of design, from art-direction rigour to typographic nuance. Your design ideas are distinctive, powerful and demonstrate clear purpose that links back to the brief and Here's overall mission.
  • Your understanding of the creative process allows you to act with confident autonomy, you schedule check-ins within the design team to keep projects moving forward, but recognise when more senior input is required.
  • You are a confident presenter. Structuring presentations and putting great thought into the narrative of a deck, fully aware that how we tell the story and bring the client on our journey is crucial to success. You are also beginning to feel more confident in discussing other disciplines' work in front of clients.
  • You regularly liaise directly with clients and suppliers on all projects and are forming relationships with relevant stakeholders on your long-term projects.
  • You explore the potential of new technology and creative processes and experiment with uses that can benefit the studio's internal processes and creative output. You keep abreast of their potential impacts on our industry.

Technical Skills

  • Impeccable typographic skills + layout skills, that showcase your creative flair and conceptual thinking
  • Mastery of Pitch and presentation building
  • Mastery in Adobe suite (Figma / Sketch a bonus)
  • Motion / 3D / Illustration / Type design skills a bonus

Place in the Team

Reports to Design Associate, who will support you and be your champion for growth and development in the studio.

A true sense of design authority on a project. Your expressive creative design work should now be coupled with a sense of responsibility. We want your big bold ideas, and your meticulous eye for detail, to be coupled with a strong understanding of client needs, as well as the goals of the studio. We want you to feel ownership over the work and champion yours and the team's ideas. You should be approachable, with time for others and their perspectives.

You contribute thinking and ideas to the Creative Council and to company initiatives.
