Job Description
Responsible to: Executive Creative Director
We are looking for a designer, with significant experience in branding, to join our London team. We are on the hunt for someone who will bring an exciting perspective to our already thriving team.
You will have a multi-disciplinary background in brand design and fantastic portfolio of exciting work. You are experienced and capable of owning projects from concept through production.
You'll be diligent and articulate, extremely skilled, hungry for every challenge and uncompromising in the pursuit of creating work for our clients that excels strategically and visually. You are able to work on your own as well as part of the team and you are keen to collaborate positively when responding to client briefs, generating concepts, development and refinement stages, through to final production.
Your conceptual thinking has rigor, and is driven by a clear articulation of a strategic intent that answers the creative brief. You are able to bring brands to life through innovative and unexpected ideas. You have the confidence and clarity to present your work in an engaging manner both internally and in client meetings. You can lead others through your thinking, respond positively and react swiftly when faced with feedback and challenge.
Your key responsibilities
Managing and driving the creative work of your team
- Actively fulfil the role of creative lead on your projects, acting as the main point of responsibility within the design studio
- Interrogate client briefs and work with the team to flush out any issues before starting creative work
- Understand and apply a strategic vision to creative work you’re involved with and have a clarity of thinking that enables you to lead projects
- Actively direct less experienced designers working with you on projects, ensuring their efforts are concentrated in the right areas
- Make decisions about your projects and keep the Design team regularly updated on decisions you have made
- Identify and raise concerns with relevant senior team members including time and resource issues on the projects your working on and leading
- Have a thorough understanding of BrandOpus design and brand philosophy and deliver work that meets this criteria
- Clearly articulate your ideas and point of view in a compelling way to both the internal team (in reviews) and to clients (through presentations)
You and the team
- Have productive and effective relationships with people at every level across the business to ensure to that you can work together to deliver the highest standards of creative work
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the wider team and be sympathetic to their needs and the challenges they face, assisting them when you can
- Provide mentoring and on-the-job training to less experienced members of the team, supporting them to generate extraordinary design
- Understand our vision and strategic objectives and be able to discuss these with others, leading by example when we introduce new ways of working
- Be a champion of BrandOpus, by immersing yourself in the culture, actively participating in both work and social ‘extra-curricular’ activity.
Developing client relationships and building business
- Support the account management team, working together to deliver against client expectations
- Know the preferences of your clients and adapt your presentation and communication style to respond to this
- Take a lead role in presenting creative work to clients, guiding them through our approach and thinking so to understand how to judge creative work
- Work on new business pitches and proposals, often as the creative lead
